Rhode Island H7191 requires any licensed lab performing blood lead analyses of a child under 6 to be certified by the director. This screening must occur regardless of the child or child’s parent’s ability to pay and at no cost. The bill also mandates that all health care programs funded in whole or in part with state money and having child health components must include screening children under six years of age for lead poisoning. The act takes effect upon passage.
