Rhode Island H7186 amends the definition of infectious diseases to include the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). It also extends eligibility for benefits to emergency medical technicians who are exposed to infectious diseases in the course of their employment. The bill ensures that emergency medical technicians receive occupational disability benefits if they are unable to perform their duties due to exposure to infectious diseases. This act takes effect upon passage.
