Establishes a building energy reporting program for large buildings in Rhode Island.
The bill establishes a building energy reporting program for residential and non-residential buildings and campuses containing 25,000 or more gross square feet. The Office of Energy Resources (OER) is responsible for reporting this information to the public to provide transparency. Owners of covered properties must input annual energy use data into the benchmarking tool. The OER will develop incentives for participation, including certification in public forums and a logo for display on buildings. The OER will also host annual information sessions for building owners.
