Rhode Island H7182 limits utility scale solar energy projects to urban areas, excluding forested land, farmland, and undeveloped property.

Rhode Island H7182 amends zoning ordinances to restrict utility scale solar energy projects to urban areas, specifically residential and commercial properties. It prohibits these projects on forested land, farmland, undeveloped property of one acre or more, and other rural areas. A utility scale solar project is defined as one producing ten megawatts (10 MW) or more of energy. The act takes effect upon passage.
