Eligibility for medical benefits extended to adjunct faculty teaching at least 50% of full-time faculty hours.

This bill amends the General Laws to extend medical benefits to adjunct faculty members at state colleges and universities who teach at least 50% of the hours regularly worked by full-time faculty in a semester. These adjunct faculty members would be eligible for the same medical benefits as other state employees. The bill specifies that the benefits include hospital care, surgical/medical services, and rights, and that these benefits, when combined with federal Medicare program benefits, should be comparable to those provided for retirees prior to the attainment of Medicare eligibility.
