Rhode Island H7128 mandates arming campus police at public higher educational institutions and includes them in the definition of "law enforcement.

Rhode Island H7128 requires campus police at public higher educational institutions to be armed and includes them in the definition of "law enforcement officer" for the "Law Enforcement Officers' Bill of Rights." Campus police must complete a firearm instruction course and adhere to in-service training requirements. They will have the same rights, duties, and responsibilities as other law enforcement officers. The act takes effect upon passage.
