Rhode Island H7078 amends the General Laws to increase the amount of life insurance the state provides at no charge to Rhode Island National Guard members called up for federal duty to five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000). Members who have been mobilized for more than thirty days and elect coverage under a federal term life insurance policy will receive reimbursement for the cost of premiums from the general fund. If a member selects coverage exceeding $500,000, they will only receive reimbursement for the first $500,000 of coverage. The act takes effect upon passage.
