Rhode Island H7073 authorizes the Department of Environmental Management to enforce the prohibition on releasing ten or more balloons simultaneously.

Rhode Island H7073 amends the General Laws to authorize the Department of Environmental Management (DEM) to enforce the prohibition on the intentional simultaneous release of ten or more balloons. The bill also allows the DEM to pursue grants for a public information campaign about the hazards and damages caused by balloon releases. Penalties for violations include a $100 civil penalty for a first offense and up to $250 for subsequent offenses. This act takes effect upon passage.
