Rhode Island H7520 expands underinsured motorist coverage to include property damage.
Rhode Island H7520 modifies the state's uninsured motorist coverage to also include underinsured motorist coverage for property damage. This means that if a driver is involved in an accident with an underinsured motorist, they can claim for property damage to their vehicle. Previously, this coverage only applied to bodily injury or death. The bill also allows policyholders to opt out of this coverage in writing if they have collision coverage for property damage. The act takes effect upon passage.
