Every hardworking Alaskan should be able to retire with dignity and live on their hard-earned benefits. That’s why Mary will work to eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits for the nearly 95,000 seniors in Alaska.
Elections & Campaigns
Mary will fight to pass a constitutional amendment overturning Citizens United so that we can finally put super PAC spending behind us, and ensure Alaskans are calling the shots on our elections.
Military & Veterans
Right now, wounded veterans’ benefits are docked – medically retired veterans with fewer than 20 years of service due to combat injuries have their military retirement pay reduced when they receive VA disability compensation. Mary previously cosponsored and will continue to support the Major Richard Star Act, to stop the “wounded veteran tax.”
Energy & Utilities
Alaskans know that we have the resources to lead the nation in oil and natural gas production, and it’s time we cut red tape to make it a reality. Mary will fight every day at the federal level for projects like the Alaska LNG Pipeline, to ensure that Alaska’s energy resources are used to lower costs for Alaskans.
Reproductive Health
Legal. Healthcare decisions should be up to a woman and her doctor, not DC politicians.
Natural Resources & Public Lands
For too long, out-of-state factory trawlers have exploited Alaska fisheries – creating excessive bycatch, and ravaging the ocean floor while Alaska fishermen and communities suffer the consequences. Mary will fight to ban factory trawling to protect our Alaska way of life.
Government Operations
For too long, politicians on both sides of the aisle have used their offices to profit off of insider information. Mary will fight against self-dealing and ban members of Congress from stock trading through the bipartisan Restore Trust in Congress Act.
