Pennsylvania SB970 amends Title 58 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to prohibit drilling or altering wells to inject fluids produced in association with oil and gas production for disposal or storage. The Department of Environmental Protection is barred from issuing permits for such activities. Individuals or businesses within five miles of a well that violates this prohibition can bring an action in the court of common pleas in the district where the well is located. The court may grant relief including actual damages, attorney fees, court costs, and equitable and injunctive relief.
