Pennsylvania SB897 amends Title 66 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to allow electric distribution companies to invest in new generation resources and enter into long-term resource adequacy agreements. Companies may petition the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to demonstrate resource inadequacy, with a presumption of inadequacy if the reserve margin forecast falls below a reasonable reserve margin. The commission must approve or deny the petition within nine months.
