Pennsylvania SB850 amends the Childhood Blood Lead Test Act to require health care providers to consider possible lead exposure and perform blood lead testing in children by 24 months of age. If a child has never been tested, a blood lead test must be performed between 24 and 72 months of age. If the test indicates an elevated blood lead level, a confirmatory test must be conducted. Health care providers must also ensure that a patient's parent or legal guardian understands the risks and benefits of blood lead testing.
