Pennsylvania SB849 prohibits adding fluoride to public water systems and bans local ordinances permitting it.

Pennsylvania SB849 amends the Safe Drinking Water Act to prohibit water suppliers from adding fluoride or fluoride-containing substances to public water systems. Suppliers currently adding fluoride must stop within 30 days of the bill's effective date. Counties and municipalities cannot adopt or enforce policies that allow fluoride in public water systems. Suppliers must report to the Department of Environmental Resources on their cessation of fluoridation. The Department will post these reports online. Violations will be subject to penalties.
