Pennsylvania SB847 amends Title 8 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to revise the process for filling vacancies in elective borough offices. If a vacancy occurs in offices such as mayor, council member, auditor, controller, or tax collector, the council must fill the vacancy within 30 days. If the council fails to do so, a vacancy board is convened to fill the vacancy within 15 days. The vacancy board consists of the council, excluding the mayor, and a chair appointed by the council.
