Pennsylvania SB805 amends Title 18 to define sky lantern tethering as an offense and sets penalties.

Pennsylvania SB805 amends Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to define sky lantern tethering as an offense. It prohibits releasing a sky lantern outdoors unless it is tethered by a weight or other fixed structure connected to the ground. Leaving a tethered sky lantern unattended is also prohibited. Violations are classified as summary offenses with fines of at least $500 for releasing an untethered lantern and $1,500 for leaving a tethered lantern unattended beyond the person's control.
