Pennsylvania SB758, known as the Mechanical Insulation Act, permits the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission to approve energy efficiency and conservation plans that incorporate mechanical insulation. This act defines mechanical insulation as materials used for thermal requirements in mechanical piping, equipment, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning applications. The commission may not reject such plans if they pass a total resource cost test, which evaluates cost-effectiveness. The act takes effect 60 days after enactment.
