Pennsylvania SB720 amends the Public School Code of 1949 to require eye health and vision examinations for school-age children. These examinations must be conducted upon admission to school, in the fourth grade, the eighth grade, and before enrollment in a Title I reading program. The Department of Health will establish vision screening standards based on national guidelines. Parents or guardians must be notified if a child fails a vision screening and must arrange for a comprehensive eye health and vision examination within 120 days.
