Pennsylvania SB605 proposes an amendment to the state constitution to restrict the General Assembly from enacting laws that authorize the Commonwealth to join or participate in interstate compacts lasting more than 10 years or providing for automatic renewal. The General Assembly may, however, periodically reauthorize such compacts for additional periods not exceeding 10 years. The amendment also allows for the renewal or extension of an interstate compact by a law enacted or joint resolution adopted between four and 10 months before the expiration of the compact's term.
