Introduced Text

Pennsylvania SB59 amends definitions, powers, and duties of the State Board of Education and degrees in community colleges.

Pennsylvania SB59 amends the Public School Code of 1949 to redefine "community college" and expand its offerings. The bill tasks the State Board of Education with adopting policies and standards for community colleges, including minimum requirements for facilities, curriculum, and degrees. It also allows community college boards of trustees to offer a baccalaureate of science degree in nursing to students with or pursuing an associate's degree in nursing. The changes will take effect in 60 days.
