Introduced Text

Pennsylvania SB578 prohibits stacking of uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage limits in motor vehicle insurance policies.

Pennsylvania SB578 amends Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to prohibit the stacking of uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage limits in motor vehicle insurance policies. This means that the limits of coverage available to an insured for injuries sustained in an accident will not be added together from two or more policies. Insurers are required to offer uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage in amounts equal to the bodily injury liability limits elected by the insured.
