Pennsylvania SB509 amends Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to redefine terms like "LIDAR" and "RADAR," establish maximum speed limits, and regulate the use of RADAR by local law enforcement. The bill sets speed limits at 35 mph in urban districts, 65 or 70 mph on freeways, 25 mph in residence districts, and 55 mph elsewhere. It allows local law enforcement to use RADAR, provided they complete training and the municipality adopts an ordinance authorizing its use.
