Pennsylvania SB491 amends telecommunications regulations, allowing local exchange companies to use any technology and exempting them from certain.

Pennsylvania SB491 amends Title 66 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to modify regulations for local exchange telecommunications companies. Effective January 1, 2026, these companies are not required to make broadband available to customers if another provider offers it. Effective January 1, 2027, they are also exempt from providing broadband to locations where other providers already offer it.
