Introduced Text

Pennsylvania SB479 mandates a moment of silence on January 6 anniversary to remember those affected by the 2021 insurrectionist attacks.

Pennsylvania SB479 amends the Public School Code of 1949 to require each school entity to conduct a moment of silence on the anniversary of January 6, 2021, in remembrance of those who lost their lives or were wounded during the insurrectionist attacks. The Department of Education must establish a model curriculum within a year, covering the historical context, the attacks, government response, and post-attack challenges. Curriculum materials and resources will be made available online for voluntary use by school entities.
