Pennsylvania SB418 amends Titles 16 and 53 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to revise procedures for filling vacancies in the office of district attorney and other municipal offices. If a vacancy occurs in the office of district attorney, the court of common pleas shall fill the vacancy by appointing a qualified person upon petition of ten or more qualified electors. For other municipal offices such as mayor, treasurer, controller, or sheriff, the municipal council must fill the vacancy within 30 days by choosing a qualified individual.
