Pennsylvania SB300 amends Title 42 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to impose a permanent fee of $2.25 on filings relating to civil actions. This fee will be collected and paid in accordance with existing county portion of fines procedures. Funds from this fee will be used to provide legal representation to financially unable claimants in property forfeiture proceedings. Specifically, if a person with standing files a claim to contest the forfeiture of real property and is financially unable to obtain legal representation, the court of common pleas must provide an attorney.
