Introduced Text

Pennsylvania SB260 amends jury duty exemptions to include caregivers of young children or disabled individuals.

Pennsylvania SB260 amends Title 42 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to expand exemptions from jury duty. Specifically, it adds a new exemption for caregivers who reside in a household with primary responsibility for the active care of a child under seven years of age or of an individual with a permanent physical or intellectual disability. These caregivers can request to be excused from jury duty if they are not employed outside their home and either do not have alternative care available or cannot afford it.
