Introduced Text

Pennsylvania SB1315 mandates health insurance coverage for certain fertility preservation services.

Pennsylvania SB1315 amends the Insurance Company Law of 1921 to require insurers offering health insurance policies to cover fertility preservation services. This includes procedures like egg retrieval, sperm retrieval, and ovarian tissue retrieval. The coverage applies to medically necessary treatments that may cause iatrogenic infertility, such as chemotherapy or radiation. Insurers can set a lifetime maximum benefit of $100,000 and limit coverage to three years post-treatment. Religious employers can opt out if the coverage conflicts with their beliefs.
