Pennsylvania SB1272 modifies the Pennsylvania Election Code to allow the presiding officer to set a new date for a special election if the General Assembly is called into an extraordinary session. The new date must be at least 60 days after the issuance of the writ. If a vacancy occurs less than seven months before the end of the term, a special election will only be held if deemed in the public interest by the presiding officer. This act will take effect 60 days after its enactment.
