The Jayanna Powell Hit-and-Run Direct Notification Act establishes a system to notify motor vehicle repair facilities of vehicles involved in hit-and-run accidents resulting in serious bodily injury or death. The Department of Transportation will develop and maintain this system, which will include details about the vehicle such as make, model, year, color, license plate number, and extent of damage. Repair facilities must register with the Department and report any matching vehicles to law enforcement. Failure to report results in a misdemeanor penalty.
