Introduced Text

Pennsylvania HB955 allows electronic special permits for vehicles, with immunity for officers from liability if they inadvertently access or damage.

Pennsylvania HB955 amends Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to allow the Department of Transportation and local authorities to issue electronic special permits for vehicles. These permits must be carried on an interactive mobile device and can be inspected by police officers. The bill also provides immunity for police officers from civil or criminal liability if they inadvertently view, delete, intercept, or damage the device while enforcing vehicle laws. If the device is inaccessible, the applicant must provide a physical copy of the permit within five business days.
