HB87

Further providing for eligibility requirements for examination and for apprentices in cosmetology salons.

Introduced·1/14/25

Pennsylvania HB87 amends cosmetology salon apprenticeship rules, allowing certain cosmetologists to train apprentices.

Pennsylvania HB87 amends the Cosmetology Law to allow cosmetologists who meet specific criteria to train apprentices in licensed salons. These criteria include being at least 23 years old, a high school graduate or equivalent, and having at least ten years of experience as a licensed cosmetologist in Pennsylvania or holding a teacher's license. The bill also mandates that there must be at least two licensed cosmetologists for each apprentice and limits the number of apprentices to two per salon. Apprentices can apply for a temporary permit to practice after completing their apprenticeship.
