Pennsylvania HB839 amends the Insurance Company Law of 1921 to ensure continuity of care for patients when their health care provider's contract with an insurer or managed care plan is terminated. The bill allows new enrollees to continue treatment with their current provider for up to 120 days after enrollment, or up to 120 days postpartum for pregnant enrollees. Insurers or managed care plans must notify enrollees of the provider's termination and request they select another provider. The transitional period can be extended if clinically appropriate.
