Pennsylvania HB698 mandates BPA-free food and beverage containers, prohibiting BPA levels above 0.1 parts per billion.

Pennsylvania HB698, known as the BPA-free Container Products Act, prohibits the manufacture, sale, or distribution of containers containing BPA above 0.1 parts per billion. Manufacturers must use the least toxic alternative when replacing BPA and cannot replace it with carcinogens or reproductive toxicants. Violating this act constitutes unfair trade practices under the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law, subjecting violators to enforcement actions. The act takes effect 60 days after enactment.
