Pennsylvania HB550 mandates bisphenol A-free food and beverage containers for infants.
HB550, known as the BPA-free Container Products for Infants Act, prohibits the manufacture, sale, or distribution of containers for infants containing bisphenol A above 0.1 parts per billion. Manufacturers must use the least toxic alternatives when replacing bisphenol A and cannot substitute it with reproductive toxicants. Violations are considered unfair trade practices under the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law, subject to enforcement, penalties, and private rights of action. The act takes effect 60 days after enactment.
