Pennsylvania HB55 amends the state's statutes to establish a process for individuals who were wrongfully convicted to seek compensation and services. The bill sets out eligibility criteria for compensation, including being convicted of a crime for which the individual was incarcerated or subject to involuntary treatment and having the conviction dismissed, overturned, reversed, or vacated on the basis of actual innocence. The compensation includes statutory noneconomic damages, reimbursement of certain costs, and other benefits.
