Pennsylvania HB537 amends death benefits for surviving family members of public safety personnel.

Pennsylvania HB537 amends the Emergency and Law Enforcement Personnel Death Benefits Act to provide property tax relief for the primary residence of deceased public safety personnel. The Commonwealth will pay the local tax authority for the surviving spouse, minor children, or parents, covering the total property taxes owed for five years or until the residence is sold. The surviving family members must provide the tax bill to the department.
