Pennsylvania HB2437 amends the unconventional gas well fee to allocate funds for bridge improvements and repairs.
HB2437 modifies the distribution of unconventional gas well fees in Pennsylvania. It allocates 40% of the remaining revenue to the Marcellus Legacy Fund, which is then distributed to counties for bridge improvements. Twenty-five percent of these funds go to the Highway Bridge Improvement Restricted Account to repair or replace locally owned at-risk deteriorated bridges. Counties can submit plans for bridge improvements, regardless of federal aid eligibility. First and second-class counties can also use these funds to improve bridges owned by public transportation authorities.
