Pennsylvania HB2387 amends Title 42 to provide for liability for wrongful death of companion animals. It allows the owner of a companion animal to bring an action if the animal is killed or sustains injuries resulting in death caused by the intentional, reckless, or negligent act of another or the animal of another. The individual causing the death or the owner of the animal causing the death is liable for up to $15,000 in noneconomic damages, in addition to the assessed market value of the companion animal.
