HB2265 amends the Health Care Facilities Act to require hospitals with emergency departments to have onsite emergency physicians unless exceptions are granted. A board-certified or board-eligible emergency physician must be present at all times when the emergency department is open. Exceptions can be granted if a hospital is in a non-urbanized area and has made good faith recruitment efforts. The bill also prohibits the use of tele-emergency models as a substitute for onsite physicians.
