Pennsylvania HB2244 amends Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to require firearm possessors to ensure their firearms are securely stored when not in use. A firearm is considered securely stored if it is either in a properly locked gun safe or out of plain sight with a properly engaged locking device. Failure to securely store a firearm may result in criminal or civil liability. A violation of this requirement constitutes a misdemeanor of the third degree.
