Pennsylvania HB1976 amends the payment process for deceased individuals' burial expenses and remaining funds.

Pennsylvania HB1976 amends Title 20 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to allow facilities to pay up to $20,000 for burial expenses from a deceased individual's patient care account to a licensed funeral home, even without a personal representative. After burial expenses, the remaining balance can be paid to the deceased's spouse, children, parents, or siblings, in that order of preference, also up to $20,000.
