Pennsylvania HB1975 amends Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to enhance penalties for assaulting law enforcement officers and emergency responders. It classifies as a first-degree felony the act of attempting to cause or causing bodily injury to these professionals by discharging a firearm or causing contact with bodily fluids. A person convicted under these circumstances may face up to 40 years in prison.
