Introduced Text

Pennsylvania HB1911 amends Title 18 to allow courts to order swatting offenders to reimburse government entities for response costs.

HB1911 amends Pennsylvania law to allow courts to order individuals convicted of swatting to reimburse state and local government entities for costs incurred in responding to false reports. This includes costs for personnel time, equipment, and supplies. For juveniles, courts may order parents or guardians to pay a portion of the costs if the juvenile cannot afford them. The court can adjust or cancel the order if payment would cause a financial hardship. The act takes effect 60 days after enactment.
