Pennsylvania HB1876 amends Titles 11 and 16 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes to provide procedures for filling vacancies in elected offices in cities and county commissioners. The bill mandates special elections to fill vacancies in the offices of mayor or council members in cities of the first, second, second A, and third class. It allows the governing body of a city to appoint an interim officer to temporarily discharge duties until the special election results are certified. The interim officer cannot be a candidate in the subsequent special election.
