Pennsylvania HB1842 proposes an amendment to the state constitution to alter how members of the General Assembly are elected and how vacancies are filled. Under the proposed amendment, members would be elected every second year, with terms beginning in December following their election. If a vacancy occurs, a writ of election would be issued to fill it at the next primary or municipal election, unless the vacancy happens more than 60 days before the primary election in an even-numbered year, in which case it would remain unfilled.
