Pennsylvania HB1796 ensures confidentiality in communications between insurers and protected individuals.

HB1796, known as the Confidential Insurance Communications Protection Act, allows protected individuals to request confidential communications with their insurer to prevent disclosure of sensitive health information. Insurers must accommodate these requests within 10 business days and cannot disclose the request's existence or nature to the primary policyholder or third parties. Insurers are also prohibited from refusing coverage or benefits based on such requests or requiring authorization from the policyholder. Noncompliance is subject to penalties under the Unfair Insurance Practices Act.
