Pennsylvania HB1761 amends Titles 53 and 66 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes. It prohibits public utilities from imposing standby charges on owners of residential structures equipped with automatic fire protection systems and on volunteer fire companies, nonprofit rescue squads, and nonprofit ambulance services that own or occupy such structures and are ratepayers for the systems. Municipal authorities are also prohibited from imposing such charges on residential or commercial structures equipped with automatic fire protection systems.
