Introduced Text

Pennsylvania HB1728 amends the Public School Code to redefine first responder training programs and courses and to establish a new funding formula.

Pennsylvania HB1728 amends the Public School Code of 1949 to redefine "first responder training program" and "noncredit first responder training courses." It also establishes a new funding formula for community colleges, starting in the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The funding formula is based on the weighted first responder training enrollment for each community college, calculated by multiplying the audited full-time equivalent students in first responder training programs by 1.50 and adding those enrolled in noncredit first responder training courses.
