Pennsylvania HB1651 amends the Second Class Township Code to specify procedures for filling vacancies on township boards of supervisors. If the board fails to fill a vacancy within fifteen days, the vacancy board must petition the court of common pleas. If the chairperson of the vacancy board is vacant, the remaining members must justify their inaction during a public meeting. The act also allows the board of supervisors to convene the vacancy board at any time after a vacancy occurs if they cannot fill it themselves. The changes take effect in 60 days.
